Creating an Automated Twitter Message That Doesn’t Feel So Automated

Business Challenge

Social media is all about building relationships and can be a great way to connect to potential clients and customers. The problem is – it’s time consuming. One of Twitter best practices is to thank new followers and those who share your content. I wanted to find a way to automate this, but didn’t want it to feel ‘automated’ or like just another promotional direct message.

My Toolkit

The Process

I wanted to concentrate on thanking my new followers in a fun way. Using Canva, I created a fun and personal image, in Twitter specific dimensions, that incorporated my personality. Then, using Zapier, I created a custom ‘zap’ that would automatically send the new image and a personal message to every new follower I had on Twitter. Now, every time someone new follows me, they get a very special, automated message from me that doesn’t feel so ‘automated’.

My Outcome

Exceeded Expectations

New followers LOVE my message. Since incorporating the new automated message, my Mentions are up over 130%, Profile visits increased 43.4% and my monthly new followers has risen by 200%. Beyond that, it’s opened a door for more valuable conversations and I actually landed one new client!
