Not all of the legal proceedings on “Suits” happen on-screen. In order to protect the show, the writers and NBCUniversal attorneys must come up with character and company names that don’t step on too many toes. In this episode, the fictitious class-action defendant “Kelton Insurance” caused a bit of a tongue twister for star Patrick J. Adams, when Mike tells Jessica that he and Zane would “co-counsel the Kelton case.” Fortunately for the attorneys (both real and fictional), Adams nailed the line.

To give Emma Powell’s neighborhood a blue collar feel, location scouts sought a compact urban space with a mix of new and old buildings. But St. Patrick’s Square has an even more colorful history than they realized – in addition to housing a poultry market, where police rounded up loose chickens until odd hours of the night, the square played host to the Christmas tree lot in the 1983 classic film “A Christmas Story.”

Like Jack’s client Dave Nader, “Suits” showrunner Aaron Korsh is a Philadelphia native and huge fan of Charles Barkley; when it came to his attention that Barkley was just as big a fan of the show, he and the writers immediately began planning a cameo. The only hitch: the NBA playoffs, which Barkley does TV commentary for, coincided with this episode’s shoot schedule. But Sir Charles was so insistent about getting on the show that he used his only day off from his day job in Atlanta to fly up for a high-impact single-day shoot.

Jessica Pearson is known for her bottomless closet of fine business attire, so when it’s time to get “dressed up” it’s no surprise she goes all out – her Zac Posen gown and Gucci sandals would have set her back over $5000. Rachel’s no slouch either, despite Jessica’s teasing, with a Burberry gown of her own at a similar price point… although whether the firm paid for the gown just like it pays for her law school remains a mystery.
